Ballisea and the Void Court emerge from Moonlight Jubilee as restored authorities. Ballisea is a teacher of Dara’s Umbromancy and a connection between Dara and the Void Squad.
Earlier eras: Origin
In the beginning, the infinite multiverse ran normally — universes expanding and contracting in cycles, soul-energy distributing across all lives. Then, on one contraction, all a universe's energy compressed into a single point and became **sentient, sapient, alive**.
That living singularity was Ballisea.
She is not merely powerful — she *is* an infinite universe, embodied as a soul. She awakened surrounded by Void (because all the energy that would have been that universe was her), then Traversed to the next universe over and began exploring.
Her birth permanently imprinted the multiverse: soul-energy began converging into singular Unique beings instead of distributing across many lives. The Afterlife came into existence as bureaucratic necessity. And her branch was quarantined into a sealed-off, Earth-only corner — the multiverse's attempt to contain the exception she represents.
Earlier eras: Key Events (Chronological)
In furious refusal, she purged her flesh entirely and bound her soul to her skeleton. Rushed and without preparation — no immediate way back. Without flesh, she could no longer channel magic directly; she routed it through Allister, who grew famous as "a powerful necromancer."
This act became the **Second Imprinting** of the multiverse: a cosmic save-point in chronology, and the groundwork for the Celestial Courts.
This is the deepest wound in her character: **the only loss she cannot reverse.**
She cannot kill Oren. He has developed natural defenses against her. She abandons him.
She also restores Flutter, initially enslaves her, but over billions of years comes to genuinely respect her. Flutter becomes the prototype for the **Court Champion** position.
Her favorite era: **Aurelio's Sun** — because Dana is dead there and can't interfere, and because she falls in love with 23 (La Luna), her most favorite Luna ever.
Earlier eras: Personality
Ballisea operates at scales that make ordinary emotional categories hard to apply. She is:
- **Grieving** — Allister's loss is the wound beneath everything; she loops partly to see him again - **Bored** — the universe isn't big enough to hold her attention for long - **Possessive** — she collects powerful beings (Flutter, the Conquistadors, her Court) the way others collect art - **Soft on Lunas** — consistently has a specific tenderness for La Luna Unique Souls; 23/Aurora is her current favorite - **Game-minded** — she's come to genuinely enjoy the Court derby game; she's not always trying to win, just to not be bored
She doesn't pursue evil the way a villain does. She pursues entertainment and feeling. The multiverse suffering under her "no fun" rules isn't sadism — it's a mechanism. She set up the Shadow Ledger because it gives the era a *shape*.
