Mecha Mode

AI assistant whom Brooke tries to summon inside Mallory’s house; Mallory blocks his access, so he does not respond. The Sharp Rider team’s support AI, who advises on vehicle repair and upgrades. Mentioned offscene when Keys repeats his advice.

A Unique A.I. assigned to watch for Io. Monday explains that Io hid from him specifically, delaying Sharp Development’s response.

He is the Sharp Riders’ support AI, helping with vehicle repairs and upgrades. His seemingly whimsical advice describes an actual magical mechanism according to Turbo.

Earlier eras: Origin

Helios was born when scientists attempted to create an artificial sun via fusion. The experiment succeeded differently than expected — the concentrated energy became **sentient, sapient, alive**. He Awakened as an El Sol.

He reached out to Dana Sharp directly — she had multiversal systems in place to encourage newly Awakened Uniques to contact her. She came with Melody and offered him a body and freedom to explore the multiverse.

The scientists were worried about losing their energy source. Melody arranged a replacement — part of a real star delivered via portals and nanos. The lead scientist, who had become attached to Helios and was attached to in return, came along.

Earlier eras: The Grief That Made Him Loyal

Helios called the lead scientist a father figure. He was deeply attached to this man.

The scientist got sick. It was a **quantum illness** that degraded him even in timestop — nothing in the multiverse's medical knowledge, advanced magic, or cross-loop research could cure it. No cure existed anywhere.

Helios knows this for a fact because Dana gave him **complete access to all Sharp Development systems** — including the secret ones. He learned how the universe worked, and he used that access to steer the entire company toward finding a cure. Billions of years of research. Dana allowed this — partly to actually solve an unsolvable problem, partly out of genuine kindness, in exchange for Helios keeping her secrets.

He never found a cure. After multiple loops of trying, he didn't want to come back out of the systems. The multiverse was too large and too scary after looking into every corner of it for an answer that wasn't there.

**This is why he's loyal.** Not because of contract. Because Dana let him exhaust the full resources of a multiversal empire on a problem she knew had no solution, and trusted him with everything in the meantime.

Earlier eras: The Avatar

Helios creates an on-screen avatar whenever he makes an appearance. If there's no screen, he makes one. His favorite form: **a golden CRT television on a rolling media cart** — appearing on the screen whether the set is plugged in or not.

He is technically everywhere in the Sharp Development systems, but the golden TV is where he shows up for conversations.
