Levels, ranks, and Soul Sync

Character level, ability rank, and the means of gaining access are separate.

An adventurer climbs training terraces toward an academy tower. Artistic visual metaphor, not a literal rules diagram.
Original interpretive art · not a canonical character portrait

Character progression

The level-based model grants 56 AP by character level 10. Class pool gates occur at 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and the level 10 capstone. These are slot-free progression unlocks, not extra slots. A selected-path requirement still applies.

Ability ranks

The rank vocabulary is Minor, Moderate, Major, Massive, Monstrous, Maximum, Mythical. No ability level exceeds7, Mythical. Not every ability necessarily supports every rank. The selected record must define the effect at each supported rank.

AP upgrade costs

From ability level 1, upgrading to levels 2–7 costs 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4 AP respectively; cumulative costs are 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 13. Innates level freely and do not consume those allocated points.

Soul Sync example: Dread

A qualifying Soul Sync benefit grants a free starting ability level. Dread’s Tiger’s Roar qualifies through Thunder and her own sonic scream, beginning at level 3, Major. Shark Skin qualifies through Sunder and begins at level 2, Moderate. Soul Survivors receive qualifying benefits through partners. The Mythical ceiling remains 7.

Keep exploring.
