The slot system

Ten ability slots. Four identity choices. Six colored stats. Two separate gear slots.

An adventurer thoughtfully selects colored glass tokens from a tray at a preparation desk. Artistic visual metaphor, not a literal rules diagram.
Original interpretive art · not a canonical character portrait

The ten-slot foundation

Body, Soul, Class, and Spec each provide one core ability slot. AGI, CHA, DEX, INT, STA, and STR each provide one stat ability slot. Every slot holds one equipped ability and can level up. Weapon and Flair add two gear slots to the displayed character sheet, not two more ability slots.

A slot is not every power you know

Class pool abilities are slot-free and unlock at their listed character-level gates. They still obey resource, target, activation, and selected-path requirements. Slottable abilities must be equipped separately. A shared pool-group name never grants another Class’s entire kit.

Two Innates, no extra slots

Body and Class each grant one free permanent Innate choice. These cannot be swapped, level with the character during a match, and cost no allocated points. They can remain private rather than appearing on public sheets.

Compatibility is more than a color match

Standard stat colors match their corresponding slots. White is passive-only. Clear accepts active or passive abilities. A dual-color slot accepts either listed color, not two abilities. Specific Body, Soul, Class, or path requirements remain in force even when the color matches.

Change your loadout, keep the distinction

The swapping model allows changes outside combat, such as on the Dance Track or at a pit stop, and lets a slot retain its upgrade level. Mode-specific rules govern the actual opportunity. Gear-granted powers and explicit bonus gear slots follow their own rules.
