The class toolkit
Named progression abilities are part of the class pool. Level gates are not extra ability slots. Selected-path, resource, and activation requirements still apply.
| Level | Ability | In practice |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Blade Enchant; Arcane Discharge | Enchant the blade and spend melee-built Arcane Charge on a strike. |
| 4 | Spellguard | Shape defensive magic around the Sword Mage's fighting stance. |
| 5 | Bladepath Focus | Emphasize the selected Mana Cleaver, Mystic Sentinel or Runic Piercer technique. |
| 6 | Elemental Edge | Apply an eligible elemental enchantment to the blade. |
| 8 | Woven Finale | Complete a melee-and-magic sequence with a charged finisher. |
| 9 | Arcane Blade | Empower the established blade magic with a sustained arcane buff. |
| 10 | Dimensional Slash | Commit the ultimate strike across a dimension-warping blade arc. |
In the story and on the track
Sword Mages combine blade attacks with enchantments and Spell Weaving. Melee builds Arcane Charge, which improves later spells or strikes. Sword Mages practice spellwork along the path of a blade. A slash, a ward, and a charged follow-through become one familiar sequence in the hands of a practiced player. Mana Cleavers make the impact unmistakable; Mystic Sentinels weave protection into their place beside the party; Runic Piercers prize the sudden change of angle. Their duel stories linger on the moment steel and enchantment stopped feeling like separate disciplines.
Resource rhythm
Melee attacks build Arcane Charge. The charge improves later spells or strikes, alongside the class's Mana use.
Specialization paths
Mana Cleaver — physical/magical impact (Strength); Mystic Sentinel — defensive wards (Charisma); Runic Piercer — agile teleporting strikes (Dexterity).
How it fits a build
Class and Spec each occupy one of the four core ability slots. Six stat slots complete the ten-ability layout. Class progression abilities are slot-free and level-gated; selecting a path does not automatically grant every alternative path. Costs, targets, timing, and access requirements still apply.
Keep exploring.
