“...so, NO.” Franklin said it with utmost finality. He'd arrived fully fired up and unloaded on the executive as soon as their meeting started. His tirade lasted almost full five minutes and he was starting to feel it in his throat. “I have absolutely no interest in joining the Hero's League, and I would appreciate it if you would stop inviting me.”
“No problem.” Orion had been smiling the whole time, which only infuriated Franklin more. “I'll make sure you never receive another Chroma Corp. mailer even remotely League adjacent. Is there anything else I can do for you?”
“Huh?” Franklin hadn’t expected it to be that easy. He’d been getting regular invites to the League, and they seemed very determined to get him to join.
“We send out invitations regularly to all Superpowered individuals, not just you. Most people simply ignore them as junk mail when they're not interested, but you took a more personal approach,” Orion replied. “And, you seem to have quite a history weighing you down. Chroma Corp. also offers counseling services if you ever feel the need to talk it out,” he said.
“I don’t need counseling!” Franklin shook his head as he stood. He’d accomplished what he was there to do.
“That’s up to you.” Orion nodded. “But I’d suggest it wouldn’t hurt to talk to more people in general,” he said. “You convinced yourself we were desperate to have you join; a good friend might have been useful to keep that self-importance in check.”
