THE MOMENT

"Am I crazy," Glory asked. "...or can I... see through your girlfriend?" The green-haired diner owner held a pleasant smile as she asked. She was trying to ask without sounding judgmental. It was a quiet mid-morning, and the diner was relatively empty. Between breakfast and lunch, most people were at work or school.

"Ah, yes," Orion nodded with a grin as his translucent girlfriend, Marigold, giggled along. "I forgot to mention, she is a ghost," he said.

"A ghost?" Glory asked and appraised the blonde apparition. She had long flowing hair and wore a golden yellow sundress. She looked human in every respect, except for being slightly transparent. "And here I thought it was a Superpower. Well, it's an honor to meet Orion's other half," Glory added.

"Thank you!" Marigold nodded. "It's an honor for me too. Orion hasn't introduced me to too many people just yet. You're the first Myth I've met."

"He hasn't, huh?" Glory realized there was a reason and she turned back to Orion. "So, to what do I owe the pleasure of being one of the lucky few?"

"I like to keep my private life mostly private," Orion nodded as he sat on one of the counter stools, and Marigold sat next to him. "Within Chroma Corp., not many people know I'm even in a relationship; it never comes up," he shrugged. "And, because of how the Courts work, I'm not in a hurry to expose Marigold to all their games. Which she would have to be part of if she joined the company."

"Completely understandable," Glory nodded.

"It wasn't too troublesome in the past. Marigold could mind the house or work anywhere she wanted. But, with the Void Court's rules, even daily life has become more dangerous, putting her at risk."

Glory wasn't a super genius like some of her regular customers, but she had a quick mind and was always open to helping others. Halfway through Orion's explanation, she realized why they were there, and she was happy for another set of hands. She'd already decided the answer was yes, even before he asked the question.

"The Courts respect all Glorias, and their businesses...," Orion said as he met Glory's eyes to ask for the favor. "Can I ask you to find her some work here, or with one of the others?"

"Orion, hon, consider it done," Glory winked with a broad grin, then turned her attention to Marigold. "You and I are kind of in the same boat, I can't say I've met any ghosts. Are there any uh...," Glory paused for a moment as she searched for the right word. "...Accessibility issues I need to take into account?"

"I can do all the ghost stuff like in the movies, but I'm mostly just a normal human that happens to be kind of see-through. I can handle physical objects, and walk through walls if I wanted."

"You came along at just the right time then," Glory replied. "A ghost waitress will help give this place a little more atmosphere for the spooky season," she giggled as she turned to head to the back. "I'll be back in a bit with the paperwork."
