THE MOMENT

"It is a nice area," Bailey commented as she and Monday walked out of a quaint home and into the cool evening air. She'd been in town with the younger teen for about 30 minutes now, and she was about ready to make up her mind. But first, she needed more information.

"Not that I'm complaining, but it does feel too good to be true. Why is it so cheap?" she asked. Monday was a representative of Sharp Development, and she respected Bailey quite a bit. Bailey was known to be interested in collecting properties, and Monday had one she was eager to unload.  The two of them walked through the town enjoying the quiet night. The street lamps had begun to come on, and their glow made the evening extra welcoming.

"It's... as is...," Monday admitted as she spread her arms to gesture at the small village around them.

"As is?" Bailey asked with a smile. That was standard practice. But, if Monday pointed it out, then she was likely drawing attention to something. The older young woman looked around to take in the ambiance as they walked. Honestly, it was a pretty perfect evening, and she didn't think of anything that was missing right away. Then, suddenly, it was plain as day.

"Hey, where are all the people?" she asked. That explained the low price perfectly, but it was a mildly unusual way to do business for Sharp Development. Usually, everything came together as a package deal.

"Spider moved in close by...," Monday shrugged. "He got a wild idea to have fun terrorizing a town recently; says Derby is getting too boring."

"Oh...," Bailey sighed. "Well, I can't set up a town here, he'll just bother them too...," Spider was a monster in every sense of the word. He was a bully, a violent killer, and emotionally unstable. She'd never be able to let her guard down with someone like that living so nearby.

"Nah, he's gone already," Monday shrugged. "He was only here about a day before he decided it wasn't for him after all," she smirked.

"So, wait...," that extra info confused Bailey. "If Spider's gone, then why aren't there any people here?" she asked.

"People, what're you gonna do?" Monday commented with a dry tone as she shrugged. "2 hours after he made his presence known, the townsfolk were suddenly taken with inspirational bravery I guess? They realized there was a whole town of them, and only one Spider."

"Ohhhhhhhhhh...," Bailey nodded with a solemn tone. "Well, I'll have to think about it I guess," she said. "If it was empty because everyone left, that'd be one thing. But, I feel kind of morbid buying a town after everyone in it was murdered."

"He was so annoyed," Monday nodded in understanding and smirked. "All he wanted to do was terrorize them for a few months, but the idiots went and escalated the situation."

"I can't blame them...," Bailey shrugged.

"So, as a result, Spider owns the town now, but he didn't want it, and I thought of you first," Monday said.

"Give me a day to think about it," Bailey nodded as she glanced around the empty town again. "Rushing into things is a bad idea."
