THE MOMENT

It was just past midnight, and Amy was finally alone. Her siblings had gotten more than their fair share, and still dragged out the post-will family meeting, hoping to watch her open the envelope. It was a standard letter-sized envelope that felt weightier than the check everyone else got, and they were very interested in what it was. At 29, Amy was on the older end of the sibling spectrum. They had an oldest brother, but she was the second oldest, and she also felt like she was the most sensible. At least, the most civilized of them.

They made no secret about waiting around for Amy's favorite great-grandmother to kick the bucket. The day she passed away, the family chat was abuzz with 'what are you going to do with your share?' But, they'd all grown up wealthy and spoiled, and somehow Amy's relationship to her 'GiGiMa', Great Grand ma, saved her from that fate. Gigima taught her to appreciate the small things she already had during their extended visits together. But now, finally, at 12:04 a.m., she locked the deadbolt on an empty house. She made herself comfortable in bed, and by 12:21 a.m., she was no longer alone in her bedroom.

"I'll be back in 10 minutes," the stranger nodded with a pleasant smile as she stepped through another portal like the one she had emerged from.

Amy had adjusted herself in bed and carefully tore open the side of the envelope and tilted it. A thin, transparent glass card slid out and into her hand. As soon as she touched it, the glass turned green and displayed a message in golden text: 'Summoning Solarion Agent'. In the seconds she took to process the message and wonder what it meant, a tall black portal opened directly in front of her bed. A woman with short platinum white hair, wearing a blue blazer with a green tie, stepped out of it and had just enough time to smile before Amy panicked.

"WHO ARE YOU!!? GET OUT OF MY ROOM!" She was in her nightgown and hadn't expected company. Fortunately, the woman made quick sense of the situation and nodded.

"My name's Cygna, and I represent Solarion Incorporated; I was told to say that Gigima sends her love," she said. Amy's panic vanished, but she was still very puzzled and not able to think clearly with trying to hold her blue, velvety comforter over herself to try and preserve her decency. "She left some things for you, but you probably want to get dressed," she smiled. It was then she informed Amy she would return in 10 minutes.

When she was alone again, Amy moved quickly. She was eager to find out more, and she needed to be presentable for that. After 10 minutes, Amy was dressed and pacing her bedroom when the portal opened again and Cygna returned.

"You knew Gigima?" Amy didn't waste any time on disbelief, she'd already seen some magical things and she always had a sense there was more to her great-grandmother than anyone knew.

"Not directly," Cygna shook her head. "But, she was beloved by certain fairy factions, including the Solarion Court. She asked us to guide you through the multiverse once she was gone."

"Wait... fairies... and alternate universes are real!?" she asked. "Gigima visited!?"

"She did more than that, she left you quite an inheritance," Cygna nodded. "Technically, the sum is too large for this Earth's economy to handle, so she left it with us to deliver access, and explain your options."

"Options? What options?" Amy wondered what choice the Fae would force her to make.

"Well, where you'd like to live, for one. You're now aware that other Earths exist...," she smiled. "...and from the impression Gigima left, she seemed confident you wouldn't feel obligated to stay on this Earth, nor share any of it with your siblings."
