THE MOMENT
Turbo glanced around the bar as he emerged from the portal. He wasn't quite sure who he was looking for yet; but, he was glad to see a familiar face. He needed to find a specialist; but, there were too many options to choose one and he decided to let fate decide. He wasn't a regular at the bar by any means, he was still 14; but, he did visit it often when searching for anything or anyone. Whether he needed inspiration or more concrete services, Turbo took the smart approach. He always checked the 'Last Place They'd Look', first.
"Hey, J.J., " Turbo smiled at the purple-haired woman as he sat next to her at the bar. She looked over and nodded at him with a polite smirk.
"What's shakin', Turbo?" she greeted him and he immediately responded.
"A Magical Girl," he said with a chuckle, then he shrugged. "Well, in progress anyway."
"Girls on your mind, huh?" J.J. chuckled with her comment.
"Not exactly," he shook his head. "Jubilee decided to become a Magical Girl and I'm helping out; but, I'm also trying to get my corporation established in the multiverse and it's taking a lot of my time too. I need to get her a proper mentor so I can focus on Rad Industries."
"A mentor?" J.J. sat up straighter and took a look around the bar. The patrons were an assortment of humanoid shapes and colors with either scales, fur, or skin. "And they're meeting you here?" she asked with a smirk.
"Haven't talked to anyone yet; this is the first place I looked," Turbo shrugged.
"Oh! Well, if you want a recommendation I know a guy," she said.
"You do?" Turbo grinned at the thought. J.J. had a purple fauxhawk and a tarantula tattooed on her neck. She always wore a black leather duster and the rest of her outfit was exclusively dark colors.
"Yeah; but, are you looking for a Unique mentor? He's a Myth, not Unique."
"Oh, that's even better," Turbo nodded. "I'm trying to get my Corp. going before Sharp Development or Chroma Corp. notice...," he said as he winked at her. J.J. giggled; he didn't mean anything by it but it still struck her funny to see the youngster wink at her through his glasses. She was 10 years older than him.
"I won't say anything," J.J. replied while still chuckling. "But... Jubilee probably wants to stream everything for her audience, doesn't she?"
"Yeah, but they don't monitor her, and we can explain anything away by saying it was staged for her stream if we need to. Jubilee being a magical girl isn't the secret we're trying to keep; but, the fewer questions we get the better," he said.
"You can count on me," J.J. nodded as she slid a node to him on the bar. "Here's where you can find Oz," she said. "He used to be part of a Magical Girl academy until he discovered the wider multiverse. If he won't help you himself, he might have some other leads," she said.
"Awesome! Thanks!" Turbo accepted the node and hopped up off the stool. He threw a black card on the floor to open a portal; but, he made sure they were relatively alone before leaning in closer to J.J.
"By the way, there's been an odd glitch popping up in the AlterNet. 'Error 23: AlterNet Mismatch'," he said. "None of the bigger Corps. have noticed it yet, so if you come across anything like that, send it to Rad Industries, okay? I'm trying to get it patched before they even know anything happened." Turbo stepped onto the black hole and descended like an elevator as he waved at J.J. She nodded and raised her beer at him.
"You got it, T. Mum's the word."
