THE MOMENT

"This is utterly ridiculous," Dennis was personally insulted by the woman's refusal. It didn't even matter that she was twice his size. He considered himself tall at 6'4", but Minerva easily stood over two feet taller than him when he walked into her office, and she introduced herself. After a few short pleasantries, he explained why he was there, and she explained why she was saying 'no'.

"These are no ordinary sweaters, blankets, and toys," he decided to spell it out for her. Chroma Corp. had an astoundingly positive reputation among the public, despite being openly owned by dragons, and he'd honestly expected better from them. He was convinced he wouldn't even have to explain the contents to such a knowledgeable organization. And yet, they were trying to turn him away, regardless of the gifts he was offering. "For with each turn of their hooks, the women crocheted spells into their crafts," he said. "The Seniors Coven is just trying to spread kindness and a little bit of magic to those in need. But, not only are you declining our donations, you're depriving children of them altogether by prohibiting me from donating them privately?"

"It's that 'little bit of magic' that's the issue," Minerva smiled at him with a warm expression. "We're more than happy to accept normal donations, but enchanted items are too risky to accept from the public. I hate to turn down such a thoughtful gesture from your Seniors Coven, but if they're willing, Chroma Corp. would be glad to arrange an Oversight Liason to sit in with future donation efforts to make sure all your crafts are safe to distribute."

"You'd do that?" Dennis posed the question simply because he felt like it was his turn to say something. He'd been nursing a growing rage in his gut, completely offended by the rejection. And, it was only amplified when he met the towering, broad woman. But, Minerva proved far more reasonable than he expected. And, more intelligent too, they'd obviously detected the charms he thought they overlooked. He was clever enough to see how unreasonable his anger had been. Of course, they couldn't take random magic items off the street and hand them over to children. He was coming to terms with his mistakes.

"Gladly," Minerva smiled. "Chroma Corp. is thrilled to work with those who want to help others."
