THE MOMENT

"And he didn't say anything else about it?" Jenny asked. She and Aurelio stood in a closed room with glowing white walls, floor, and ceiling. He invited her there for a private discussion. There were no doors and they were sealed off from the universe at large.

"I asked in every way I could," Aurelio shrugged. "It's not easy to get straightforward answers out of Helios, even when it's not meant to be a secret. He called them 'Turbo Zombies' and confirmed they hadn't been invented 'Yet'; but that's it. Then, he seemed to forget he even told me and refused to discuss it again. The entry disappeared from the list by the time I glanced again."

"Are you sure you didn't make it up?" Jenny grinned.

"I'm sure," Aurelio chuckled. "I'd like to think I'm a little more creative than calling them 'Turbo Zombies'."

"You're right," she giggled some more. "Calling yourself 'Darkmoon' is peak creativity for a supervillain name."

"Yeah, yeah, can you and Finn help me, or not?" he changed the subject with a question.

"Uh, no," Jenny shook her head. "Finn's code-breaking isn't that high yet; and, I'm not really eager to try and hack into Sharp Development. Not for this...," she shrugged.

"It's not just about the Turbo Zombies," he shook his head. "Sharp Development has an index of timelines somewhere. The Turbo Zombies are from a future that already happened; don't you want to know more?" he asked.

"Sure," Jenny nodded. "When I'm ready. My Earth is in the 1980s; I was in the 80s when the multiverse showed up. It's a huge jump to nano-tech; I'm still getting used to hopping between realities and playing in the AlterNet. I've totally got too much going on now to worry about a future that probably doesn't have anything to do with me. Besides, don't you trust Ms. Sharp?"

"I do," Aurelio nodded. "But, that's what's bugging me," he added. "Even before I started working for Sharp Development, I knew I wanted to. I knew Ms. Sharp was the best star to hitch my wagon to. Of course, when you factor in their control over timelines it leads to some interesting questions."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Jenny asked.

"Even before I met her. From the beginning, I knew Ms. Sharp was the best in almost every aspect. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is...," he paused for a moment to look into Jenny's eyes. And, he shrugged for extra effect. "How do I know that?"
