THE MOMENT

"Bored?" Phoenix chuckled down at the young blonde. She had fair skin and sunny, stringy golden hair falling down around her eyes. She wore a white hoodie with the red company logo on it. It matched Phoenix's more formal white business suit. The red scissor logo was stitched on the front of his blazer. "You have a whole Earth to play in."

"It's just ONE!" Honey shook her head as she whined. "The only time I get to leave this Earth is when you want someone dead...,"

"You understand why, right? You know what you're capable of, Honey."

"I'm capable of controlling myself...," she mumbled while still staring at the floor. It wasn't the first time they'd had a similar conversation. It almost felt like she was going through the motions of complaining instead of feeling anything was actually wrong.

"Sharp Development isn't quite ready to agree on that yet," Phoenix said. His voice carried an almost brotherly tone. As if to console her but still keep her from doing what she wanted to. "You're still Goliath; deep down in your soul, that murderous Conquistador is still part of you. Are you sure you want to be out there making friends knowing you might murder them at any moment?"

"I want friends...," Honey complained. It wasn't a direct answer to his question; but, she didn't have one. All she knew was that she was lonely. Sharp Development gave her an entire Earth to play with; but, she could only create NPCs to fill it. Friends weren't the same if you had to program them first.

"You'll have plenty of friends once you get the okay. In the meantime...," Phoenix spread his arms wide and stepped closer to the young girl. He embraced her in a warm, formal hug. "...you're part of the Sharp Development family. You're one of us!" he said.

"I can still be one of you on another earth with friends!" Honey said. She became a gooey, liquid mass of translucent golden slime and pulled away from Phoenix's embrace as she whined. "Why do I have to stay here on this boring Earth by myself??!"

"Honey...," Phoenix shook his head. A tall black portal opened behind him. He was ready to leave and Honey didn't want to try and keep him longer; she would rather be alone than with Phoenix. "...aren't you paying attention?" he asked as he stepped backward into the portal. "Every time we let you out... you kill someone."
